Well, this is too much even for the council members…although their authority is able to give anomalous meanings to Confession which is the Sacrament of Penance and reconciliation with God due to one's sins. Attrition, contrition, accusation, forgiveness/absolution and penance are the fundamental characteristics for the Catholic who confesses. This does not seem to be the case among modernists…(n.d.r.)
