The American president, Republican Donald Trump, received Melissa Ohden at the White House, a woman who survived a late-term miscarriage , a child of 6 years old named Micah Pickering, born in 22 weeks and other abortion survivors and pro-life activists.
Dr. Alveda King was present at the meeting, grandson of the famous Martin Luther King, Jr., pro-life activist Christina Marie Bennett, and other pro-life and Down syndrome rights advocates.
Trump also participated in a conference call with pro-life advocates. He referred to the State of the Union speech in which he condemned not only the new New York law that expands abortion up to birth, but also to the governor of Virginia Ralph Northam, the Democrat who promoted infanticide during a radio interview.
Melissa Ohden survived a late-term miscarriage when her mother was pregnant with 7 months. Later, Ohden discovered that his mother, who had been forced to have an abortion, she deeply regretted having done nothing to save her baby's life.
“I can tell you that in our private meeting with Trump he was hot, fun, genuine, Well yes, he was interested in some things, including the situation regarding the protection of life”, Ohden wrote on Facebook about his meeting with Trump.
“It was a historic moment, this is just the first step for abortion survivors waiting to be recognized, included and supported, both from the Trump administration and from the world of culture in general”.
“There are many stories like mine”, Ohden told LifeSiteNews in a recent interview. “We are not talking about hypothetical cases. We are not talking about ambiguous circumstances. We're talking about human beings.".
“With compassion and trust, President Trump spoke to thousands of Americans in the Oval Office. "A thousand thanks. I want to thank all the thousands of pro-life people and also the pro-life leaders, the shepherds, families and militants for adhering to this call and I invite you to work with love and devotion to build a culture that values human life" Trump said. Dr. King thanked President Trump for “his latest pro-life action, to shine light and hope for unborn children and for those who are unjustly bound in other situations of weakness”.
“It was comforting and encouraging that the president and White House staff treated us with respect and kindness”, Bennett told LifeSiteNews. It's wonderful to know that President Trump believes our cause is worthy and that our stories deserve to be heard.".
