We get this READER'S LETTER which we are kindly asked to publish, which we welcome, although some parts are not shared, especially those laudatory ones by Craxi and on a vision of Fascism from a perspective, in our opinion, a bit’ too unbalanced to the left. Anyway, the text is interesting, original and well written. Certainly, the still open debate on Fascism is reserved for serious historians, like De Felice and Parlato, while today it is used in a specious and false way among politicians in the service of Soros and Rockefeller…
Of Giacomo Emilia

Il 29 July 1883 was born in Dovia di Predappio, under the patron star of Amilcare Cipriani and A. Orians, Benito Mussolini.

Revolutionary, Socialist, but above all Italian, will be the greatest protagonist, according to the judgment that its sole successor will give, the great statesman of the PSI Bettino Craxi, of an authentic social Renaissance that was able to impose Rome at the center of the world.

Captured in April 1945 during the attempt to create the Republican Alpine Redoubt, he was executed in the night between 27 and the 28 April during a scuffle as he was in fact trying to defend Claretta Petacci, victim of partisan violence (cfr. http://www.secoloditalia.it/2018/01/lo-storico-parlato-su-claretta-troppi-misteri-ecco-la-versione-piu-plausibile/).

Before death, despite German sabotage, However, it succeeded with the Legislative Decree 12 February 1944 n. 375 (https://it.wikisource.org/wiki/D.Lgs._12_febbraio_1944,_n._375_-_Socializzazione_delle_imprese) to definitively decline the fascist message as a social and "Socialist" synthesis of the ideology of the Third Italy.

If other principles and practices of the Fascist regime will be protected and safeguarded by the Constituent Assembly of the Italian Republic, the practice of Socialization will be immediately abolished by the ideological bloc that ranged from Einaudi's liberalists to Togliatti's communists and in this case saw them in agreement on the goal. In the Italy of the decades to come there was no longer room for socialization and national identity, but above all there would have been mutual class hatred.

The anti-fascist historian Castronovo, during his fundamental political-economic intervention (cfr. The Italian petty-bourgeois social soul, in “Fascism and historians today”, Laterza 1988, pp. 37 e ss.), denying the Marxist thesis of fascism as an agent of big capital and noting (p. 39) as early as 1920 there was a fairly consistent strategy between the "red" CGL and the command groups of Italian industry, maintains that in the same regime as the Twenty Years, Mussolini knew how to create an assisted and protected social structure "foreign to the logic of the Market, then exposed the latter to quite a few regulatory interventions or incursions of an ideological political nature which are not always light or ephemeral" (p. 43).

We thus want to remember the socialist from Predappio with the words of the last leader of the PSI.

Mussolini was a totalitarian, a nationalist. But he was also a progressive and a socialist until the end of his life. Il 24 April 1945 Mussolini wrote his political testament and l’ delivered at the headquarters of the socialist party in Milan. In quell’ building my father, lawyer, he had his own studio which was point d’ meeting of socialists. These, naturally, they indignantly rejected that writing.

Mussolini was a very complex man. And cultured. Unlike Hitler, that in 6 years before 1939 s’ he was occupied only with the preparation of the future world war, Mussolini ruled’ Italy for two decades, starting a renaissance of sociality before throwing himself into the tragic adventure. Bettino Craxi Hammamet 8 December 1996

Everything can be said about Mussolini except that he left no historical-architectural monuments in twenty years of dictatorship. He gave the land to the farmers while taking it away from the landowners. He built houses for those who did not have a piece of land. He reclaimed swamps and created cities. It laid the foundation for trade union rights. It gave impetus to industrialization. He favored corporatism against capitalism. He united the people against the classist and party logic. He created an Italian welfare state. He closed the door on FORD to protect FIAT. He protected Italian law on the Mediterranean, for which we have always been condemned to death by the French and English. And he paid for all this with his life…. Bettino Craxi Hammamet 28 October 1999
