Dalla Costa speaks: open investigation, but he did not pass the hurdle of the investigating judge. The health aspect could remain open: the ball in the Veneto Region
There are new developments on the case of Treviso waters which he dealt with Vvox. The complaint by the Mestre chemist gave rise to a criminal investigation which was closed a few months ago, but the same conduct reported in the complaint would have generated administrative disputes. Explaining it to Vvox is Michele Dalla Costa, prosecutor of the Republic of Treviso. «The file was archived because the outcome of the investigations revealed that with respect to the alleged anomalous conduct that had been reported» in 2014 to the Noe Carabinieri and then in 2016 to the Carabinieri of the Nas they concerned «facts of an administrative nature while the criminally relevant hypotheses had not found any corroboration either as regards the disposal of waste or as regards that of industrial waste water. Furthermore also in relation to the fact that some episodes they even dated back to the 1990s the office, or the magistrate who conducted the investigations, asked for it to be archived. The complaint concerned the analysis method of a chemical laboratory in Opitergia hired by Alto Trevigiano Servizi (Ats) to evaluate the healthiness of public water supplies in the Alta Trevigiana area, in particular the presence of heavy metals in the waters of the Destra Piave, or the user provided by Ats, who for her part says she is convinced of her good work. The news has divided politics in the Region, with the centre-right majority defending the water manager, and M5S and Pd who asked for clarity.
Archiving, the prosecutor remarks, it is «from December 2017». Obviously the question on the administrative level is different «because I believe that there have been disputes on that side» underlines Dr. Dalla Costa again. However, this is an area that does not fall within the jurisdiction of the criminal judiciary. Dalla Costa's words, in practice, they put it back the ball on the playing field of the Veneto Region. In fact, it is the regional body that the Local Health Units depend on which, according to the declarations of the ATS leaders they would perform the counter-analyses compared to the results provided by the Giusto Laboratories, who denies all accusations.
Any administrative process on controls is not just the responsibility of healthcare companies (the methods for evaluating some health procedures also ended up in the chemist's complaint). By law, Indeed, the Carabinieri they also have typical tasks of the administrative police. And it's about those findings, of which the competent Local Health Authority is informed as a rule, which could bring attention to the case again.
