When it was “parish priest” in Bussolengo (VR) we strongly contest it for the blasphemous vignettes, both in person and in print, as well as in the churchyard, with a leaflet that caused a sensation. Zenti too, at our request, intervened to censor some of his more questionable releases than ever. Ora, finally, the final blow?
The priest posted his drawing on social media accompanying it with a caption: “When the 25 April is in Easter Week…”. In fact, in Don Giovanni Berti's drawing, Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and sings: “…This morning I woke up, oh beautiful hello, ciao, ciao…”.
The priest on the Gazzettino This is how he commented on his drawing which caused a lot of discussion especially on social media: “Easter of resurrection and liberation – comments the priest – from death and all its manifestations: guerra, hatred, persecution, division, racism, destruction…il 25 April celebrates for our Italian nation the rediscovered freedom and the beginning of a never-ending journey of liberation… as never ended is the journey of humanity's liberation that began on the morning of Christ's resurrection…“.
And in fact network users are divided. On the one hand there are those who approve of this choice: “GRandy Gioba – we read in a comment that recalls the stage name of the priest-designer – always of great inspiration“. And again: “The Christianity I like, grande!!“. But there are also those who point the finger at the priest for having compared Jesus to 25 April: “Doing less ironic politics and being more Christian would be ideal. You should sing the beautiful ciao to the devil“. And Don Giovanni Berti finds inspiration for his own from the Holy Scriptures “creations”: “Not to trivialize the message they contain, but on the contrary to grasp the power of joy that is hidden in the story of Jesus“. Despite his explanation, however, the faithful remain divided.
