If I could, I would ask the signatories: what could be less compliant with liberal democracy than the European Union? It is true that we are called to vote but it is also true that Parliament has limited powers and no one has ever asked us to choose a leader to govern Europe. If they didn't ask us, it means they are not interested in involving us. Technocracy does not like liberal democracy. In Anglo-Saxon countries there is a substantial literature on the European Union as an example of a modern empire. The worst of empiresi: an empire without an emperor, where they talk 25 languages and who really commands is His Majesty the Euro, a currency that has different values depending on the countries in which it is spent. In Germany it has value, in Italy there is another one. The lucidity of artists in the political field is rather poor.
