Masonry. The Council of the Grand Orient of Italy considers the provisions on Freemasonry contained in the Contract stipulated between the parties of the future executive to be unconstitutional. And asks for the intervention of the President of the Republic
The Freemasons of the Grand Orient of Italy solemnly swear loyalty to the Italian Republic. They do so on the Constitutional Charter and undertake to respect its rules and laws. The idea of ​​inserting an anti-Masonic clause in the contract between Lega and M5S is contrary to constitutional principles. Remember the fascist laws that the Freemasons have always denounced and which are the consequence of a dangerous liberticidal drift. The articles 2, 3,18 e 21 of the Constitution are very clear and do not allow negotiated agreements that prevent categories of citizens from exercising their freedom of participation, of expression and association in all its forms. Anyone who thinks of exploiting a campaign against Freemasons for political purposes and preventing the exercise of primary rights commits an abuse and must assume all responsibility for it.
This hateful discrimination not only offends the history of Italy, to whose creation as a Nation and to whose civil progress the Freemasons from Garibaldi to Carducci, from Mameli to Crispi, from Fermi to Ruini, by Quasimodo, they made a fundamental contribution; but it also causes anxiety in the public opinion of all the great Western Democracies, from the United States to England, to France, in which membership in Freemasonry is synonymous with patriotic attachment and constitutional loyalty. We remind all newly elected Deputies and Senators and in particular the leaders and Parliamentarians of the two groups that are running to govern the fate of our Nation that they must represent all citizens and we invite them to re-read some useful pages of history starting from the Risorgimento and ending with the Establishment of the Italian Republic.
The Freemasons of the Grand Orient of Italy ask the Head of State, guarantor of all Italians, who ensures that the Constitution is applied in its entirety and without discrimination.

The M5S wants to put us out of public life, it brings us together with mafiosi and corrupt people, people who have committed serious crimes and we cannot share this.
