Thursday 12 July 2018 the Portuguese parliament, following in the footsteps of Denmark, Malta, Sweden, Ireland and Norway, passed a bill that will allow its citizens who have completed i 16 years of age to change one's gender and name on civil registers, without the need to present any medical diagnosis of “identity disorder”.
The day after the vote, Sandra Cunha, left-wing parliamentarian who fought strongly for this law, arguing in court that «no one needs a third party to know if it is a man or a woman, a boy or a girl», expressed his satisfaction, underlining how thanks to this new legislation Portugal has become «the sixth European country to grant the right to self-determination of identityhas transgender... without the protection of third parties and without a diagnosis of interruption ofidentity».
In addition to establishing the principle of self-determination of one's sex, the bill just approved, due to a proposal agreed between Socialist Party, il left-wing Marxist bloc and the People's Party, of Animals and Nature,bans surgical procedures on intersex children, that is, those affected by special pathologies, born with male and female reproductive organs, so that they too are "free" to choose, in the future, independently, your sexual gender.
The new legislation on gender identity, it therefore represents a further step forward in terms of self-determination compared to the previous law of 2011 which was required of Portuguese transgender citizens, at least, a medical diagnosis attesting to their “gender dysphoria”, scientific term used to certify the pathology indicating the mismatch between the perceived gender identity and the actual biological sex at birth of a person.
The newly passed legislation also ignored the feeble requests of the President of Portugal Rebelo de Sousa who, after placing, last April, his veto on the first version of the text, he said he was in favor of the law, provided that it established that, at least for the cases of minors aged between 16 e 18 years, it was necessary to present a medical report confirming the identity disorder.
Request returned to sender, since the part of the law concerning minors has been modified, but only to establish that a medical report will be required «which exclusively certifies the capacityhas of decision and willhas information, without reference to a diagnosis of identityhas of gender».
At this point the law is once again in the hands of President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa who, if you do not raise any further objections to the content, within eight days, will proceed with its official issuing.
In the space of a few years, so, Portugal, country of centuries-old Catholic tradition, it capitulated under the lethal blows of the global ethical diktat, adopting in rapid succession the most radical regulations regarding gender and homosexuality.

From the streets and city squares of the European capitals, the gender revolution accelerates and changes pace, forcefully entering its parliamentary halls.
