There is no day that the government, the institutions, the apparatus and the media do not fire against the Invisible Enemy who has now become the Absolute Evil to be defeated: le fake news.
After the exorcists and the ghostbusters wanted by law of Boldrini and Fiano, the government has launched an invisible structure with the Minister of the Interior Minniti and the police chief Gabrielli to fight the nuclear war against fakes, and it was launched the other day by none other than the National Anti-Cyber Crime Center in Tuscolano.
Meanwhile the global pirate Zuckerberg promises the chastity belt to Facebook and assures the Power that there will be secret filters, censorship and algorithms to combat diabolical fake news. Joining the media chorus, the former prime minister Monti - whose deadly government we have a vivid memory of - wrote an article yesterday in Corriere della sera claiming that we live in the era of fake news.
Now it seems like a world war to me against mosquitoes, or if you prefer the use of atomic bombs and entire armies to destroy butterflies, which fake news resembles in its ephemeral vagueness and elusive evanescence.
How they fight, how to deal with fake news, impalpable and molecular as they are, if they are attributed to the anonymous network, confused among billions of users? It makes sense to engage in battle by firing shots into the air, since the fakes are in the atmosphere? It's not like firing cannons at smog, against fine dust and polluting factors?
Behind the madness of the undertaking there is not the absurd dementia of some diligent Guardians.
But there is a calculated plan: disqualify everything that does not come from the Opinion Factory, everything that is not administered by the Authorized Holders of Power. And demonize through fake news the unfathomable beast that produces it, the Populists, or worse yet, the Sovereignists. You understand who they are against.
On an international level, fake news translates with “that pig Trump” and “that tyrant Putin”. At a national level, however, the war on flies serves to disqualify the grillini on the one hand (mosquitoes, butterflies, flies, barbecue; we are always in the field of disinfestation) and on the other the Northern League and the right.
It's not about defending hoaxes, unfounded rumors, the vomiting of insults from haters, which we consider annoying and miserable.
But understand the connection between fake news on the one hand to the regime's manipulations and on the other to the electoral promises of the parties, which are authentic fakes (and here Professor Monti is right in his rigor mortis). Indeed, the so-called post-truths actually arise as a reaction to pre-falsehoods, that is, to the falsehoods prefabricated by the big apparatus news industry, that prohibit some opinions and convey others.
Political correctness is the realm of fake news that has become canon. And then the fake news peddled at retail by individual internet users and bounced here like a virus, they are small compared to the wholesalers of fake news, i.e. the parties and their leaders in the election campaign. Where the promises are fake, the scams, the announcements that will never come true.
In this, the populists are struggling compared to the more consummate salesmen and fake dealers who lead the Libs and the Dems today. The award-winning Silvio company & Matteo, so to speak. They march divided to strike united.
This antifake campaign is truly grotesque. They fight artisanal fakes to protect fakes on an industrial scale. They are Fakists in arms.
