Of Gianni Candotto
These days, thanks to a massive press campaign and a massive political campaign by the left, the idea has spread that there is a racism emergency in Italy and that racism in Italy is on the increase. But is it like this or is it just propaganda? To understand this it is necessary to analyze the data on crimes against foreigners in Italy, of racially motivated crimes and make a comparison with previous years and with abroad.
The first data is to see whether there has been an increase in crimes against foreigners overall (violence, insults, damage, vandalism and other crimes). Taking into account that foreigners have increased, it would be logical to expect a constant increase in crimes against foreigners, but the data says otherwise. Se 2016 they were there 202.000 foreign victims of crime, In the 2017 192.000 and in the first full six months of 2018 85.000 (which multiplied by two is 170.000. Even comparing the first six months of 2017 with the first six months of 2018 let's move on 90.000 a 85.000).
If instead we only look at the data regarding complaints of actual racism, the Ministry of the Interior through OSCAD (Observatory for Security against Discriminatory Acts) it provides us with this: in the last ones 7 years since 2010 al 2017 the total number of crimes reported for discriminatory reasons was 2030 of which 850 non-existent (that is, either there was no crime or racism had nothing to do with it) e 144 still in the trial phase. So an average of 280 incidents of racism reported per year e 130 make sure. So we are talking about almost one crime reported per day. And now? In two months of yellow-green government, since Conte took office, since the media decided that there is racism in Italy, the racist crimes reported are 33 which on an annual basis does 198, therefore well below average 2010-2017. The data of 33 (updated to 2 days ago with the now famous egg, which is definitely not racism) it is taken from the numerous interactive maps of racial crimes in Italy which are constantly updated by anti-racist observers, the first being that of the journalist Luigi Mastrodonato. It is obvious that the data of 33 it is not a statistically certain data, first because it is not known whether there are any complaints not yet made, Mastrodonato himself claims in the map that has been widely used by all the media that there are "definitely more", secondly because it is made by anti-racist militants who are therefore not neutral. But still we are well below the average of the last ten years. It is obvious that to have official data we need to wait until the end of the year. But it is clear that there is no emergency and no growth peak. On the contrary.
But then what is the comparison with other European countries?
Let's start from the only data that has a comparison with all of Europe. The data is from 2013. The data is from the ENAR report 2014 (l’Europea Network Against Racism). In Italy in 2013, so reports Enar, there were 194 “racist crimes”, in Austria. that we remember having 8 times fewer inhabitants than Italy, 110, in Croatia 33, in the Czech Republic 186, in Finland 833, in France 1376, in Germany 5131, in Spain 384, in Poland 719 and in Great Britain 36.000 (in Great Britain, however, they also calculate racism between foreigners and the racism of foreigners against the British, therefore they are not comparable data). And while in Italy crimes are on average 130 verified each year and this year if the data were correct and the average of one non-existence for every two complaints was maintained it would be approximately 100, therefore decreasing, how it went in other countries since 2013 to date? In Great Britain we have arrived at 80.000 In the 2017, in France they talk about an increase in 255% for racial crimes against Muslims only.
WHAT CONCLUSIONS TO DRAW?
THAT ITALY IS THE COUNTRY WHERE THERE IS BY FAR THE LEAST RACISM IN EUROPE AND THAT IF WE DON'T HAVE THE CERTAINTY OF SAYING THAT RACIAL CRIMES ARE DECREASING, WE CAN CERTAINLY SAY THAT THEY ARE NOT INCREASING AND THAT THEREFORE THE MEDIA CAMPAIGN IS JUST A GIANT ORCHESTRATE FAKE NEWS.
