A silent contingent of special forces and agents of DSGE secret services who operate in the Libyan theater for over two years: officially in "anti-ISIS function", but often close to the actions of the armed forces led by the general Khalifa Haftar. The man on the rise in the Libyan crisis who risks overwhelming the Tripoli government (Gna).
Italy is not the only European power to have a contingent of special forces engaged in “front line” on Libyan soil. France too, which according to what was reported in the past by The Mondeis waging a “secret war” in Libya, has a task force of special forces and military operators in the field Dsge – General Directorate of External Security – press the database Benina air base, east of Benghazi. A contingent of one hundred and fifty men, according to the latest rumors dating back to 2016, which may have been reinforced by additional units after some losses recorded, and following the continuous escalations that have reached their peak in recent days: when clashes in the outskirts of the capital saw some mortar shells fall near government buildings and embassies, forcing the evacuation of personnel - including Italians - from Tripoli.
Targeted attacks, discrete actions, “even secret” reported to the French press, describing the operations conducted by the special forces deployed in Libya, not in close contact with the Government of National Accord presided over by Fayez Al-Serraj, but with the army loyal to the pro-Russian general Haftar; that he would hold gods secret pacts with Paris, and who had always made his "presence" felt by the general, could lead the French power to be the main mediator in the "Libyan question".
The French elite forces lined up on the field, who in the past would have intervened on several occasions in Benghazi and other areas to "support" the offensive launched by Haftar's army against the Tripolitan Islamist forces“, they would act as a 'coordination command' for operations with the Libyan army, eliminating “high-value” targets with the help of snipers, and gathering intelligence information through intelligence service agents. The objective for the French Ministry of Defense has always been to "target the leadership of Libya's Islamist militias” through “unofficial military actions” conducted by elite troops coordinated by intelligence in the absence of a clear framework that does not allow “official” military intervention.
However, it is not clear which special forces the elite military operators engaged on Libyan soil belong to, and what resources they have at their disposal. As in the case ofkilling of the three agents of the French secret service - killed in the shooting down of a Russian-made helicopter supplied to Haftar's forces - one could assume that there are no helicopters or ground vehicles of the French army, but that the means to conduct operations, which Macron's soldiers carry out in uniform and not under cover, are found on site.
The French Armed Forces boast several units considered 'elite' and among the best in the world: several parachute regiments, employed in the Army and in the Foreign Legion, he Air Parachute Commando, employed in the Air Force, and several regiments of raiders and marines belonging to the Marine Nationale. The DGSE agents instead, which fall under the Ministry of the Interior, they are responsible for espionage and intelligence, supplying the Elysée with precious information to address the most convenient choices for the French government in this long crisis which has now lasted for over seven years.
