It really seems like an answer to terrifying law approved in New York State which makes abortion possible until the last day of pregnancy. The decision is made by Republican candidate Robert Foster, member of the lower house of the State of Mississippi, which he said he wanted to introduce a measure that makes abortion prohibited, as soon as the heartbeat of a fetus is detectable, that is, between six and eight weeks of pregnancy, the only exception is the case in which the mother's life is in danger.
Obviously Foster's statements caused a great stir, especially among the leaders of Planned Parenthood, we are referring to Aimee Lewis, responsible for fundraising for the Parenthood Greater Memphis Region Planned (Ppgmr) who spoke of "extreme" legislation that would always ban abortion, as «Most women don't even know they're pregnant at six weeks» and therefore, according to Lewis, they would never be truly free to choose. But Foster's response didn't take long to arrive, the candidate in fact underlined that if anything, this would guarantee young women who are expecting a child, not to be subjected to continuous pressure to have an abortion right from the start. Often, Indeed, abortion is included in the political programs under the expression "reproductive health", as if pregnancy were an illness and the only one that should possibly be "protected" (from what, Then?) it must be the mother. On the contrary, Foster said, his intention is simply to make Mississippi, the safest place, in America, for an unborn child.
A similar law was also signed by Kim Reynolds, governor of the State of Iowa. This is a measure that prevents, precisely, to perform the abortion only after being able to hear the heartbeat of the fetus, except for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest. The governor, who had to face noisy protests from demonstrators gathered in front of his building, as he proceeded to sign, he showed a certain serenity in the face of the difficulties facing him: «I understand and anticipate that there will be court challenges and that the courts may even stay the law until it reaches the Supreme Court».
All this is proof that the the fight against abortion in the United States knows no respite, thanks largely to American pro-life associations, that thanks to their tenacity, sometimes, achieve unexpected successes.
