For the city of Rome the sanctification of the holidays also takes on and has its own special note and aspect. Rome is the center of the Catholic Church; holy city, for the copying of its Christian monuments and its historical memories, for its Basilicas, for its sacred and solemn functions, to which the faithful flock from all sides in times of peace, who in their concept and heart venerate her as an inspiration, animator and glorifier of holiness. What a painful disappointment it would be for all those, in whose homeland the Sunday precept is fully respected, observed and maintained, if here in Rome they found nothing other than one of the many large cities, who with their profanation of the holidays are co-responsible for the disintegration of the Christian world order?
