Ukraine, Stalin did 7 millions of deaths. But no one talks about it

Ukraine, Stalin did 7 millions of deaths. More than Hitler. But no one talks about it The wholeUkraine celebrates one of the greatest these days, perhaps the largest, holocaust of the twentieth century, l’Holodomor, which literally means “death by starvation”. What is it about? In Europa, and even less in Italy, what is one of the greatest crimes of communism has never been talked about, than like others, continues to be systematically obscured by historiography and the media. The massacre occurred from 1929 al 1933, ruler Stalin, and the number of victims is still uncertain today: the most reliable sources vary the number of deaths from 7 a 10 millions, although other sources reduce the figure to 4/5. L’Soviet Union he always kept the story quiet, and even after the UN war, Ue, NATO and the other supranational organizations have never mentioned the affair. Only in Ukraine is the anniversary commemorated annually, right in the last days of November. Unfortunately, to date, solo 23 Countries and the European Parliament have recognized the Holodomor as genocide. Many countries, including Italy, they haven't done it yet.

This is how Stalin planned the Holodomor

It all started when Stalin set out to rationalize the whole country, both from an agricultural and industrial point of view. Ukraine, as is known, provided the USSR with 50 percent of agricultural production. Communism, come to, brought lands and production under state control. In Ukraine instead, traditionally, the lands were fragmented into small agricultural properties belonging to the Kulaks. The USSR could not tolerate this division and forcibly started the process called "dekulakization", to put it in Kolchoz (cooperative agricole) in their place. All the millions of kulaks who rejected communist collectivization were killed or deported to Siberia and the Arctic regions. The few survivors were harassed in such a way that it was impossible for them to survive: the quotas to be delivered to the State became very high, and the Red Guards often confiscated all the foodstuffs owned by the peasants. Everything was requisitioned, from wheat to flour to bread to vegetables, the animals were killed because the farmers were not supposed to own anything. The result was that millions of people died, agricultural production collapsed, but Stalin won. In fact, his intent was not so much to increase agricultural production, how much to bend the kulaks and with them all the opponents of the communist dictatorship.

The Holodomor was an example for opponents of communism

Stalin, In short, we worked hard to set an example: and gave it. Until 1989 no one dared to rebel against the ferocious communist dictatorship anymore, under penalty of death or the gulag. In fact, the communists did not limit themselves - so to speak - to physically killing their opponents, but they intended to deprive them of all forms of support, make him scorched earth. To help the collectivization process, the CPSU sent tens of thousands of government commissioners and around 25 thousand industrial workers to Ukraine to operate the kolkhozes. There were obviously accidents, who were repressed in the most brutal way possible. The term kulaki soon served to define all those who opposed the regime. Ten million peasants were put under investigation, of which the majority – as Stalin said – were annihilated. When, In the 1932, Moscow received only the 39 percent of the required production, Stalin blamed the kulaks and their alleged sabotage, with the consequences you can imagine. Summary executions, shootings, incarcerations, deportations, they followed one another by the millions, in the ignorance and impotence of Western countries. The repression intensified: everything was confiscated, and the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs, the infamous Nkvd, banned Ukraine's external trade and travel. To do this, the army surrounded the borders, effectively isolating Ukraine from the rest of the USSR and causing death from starvation.. A bit like what happened, in more recent times, for Nigerian Biafra, isolated and crushed by famine by the Nigerian regime. All of Ukraine at that point became a huge extermination camp and the Soviet government banned travel to Ukraine, especially to foreigners. In the following years things got worse: the breadbasket of the USSR became a depressed area, and other people died in the following years as a result of that deliberate genocidal act aimed at breaking the resistance of the Ukrainian peasants.

The USSR hid the Holodomor for years

The USSR hid the affair for years, and the Holodomor began to be talked about only during Gorbachev's perestroika, but in schools all over the world, with the exception of the Ukrainian ones. we don't talk about the Holodomor, just as for decades there was no mention of the massacres in the foibe, of the Katyn pits, initially attributed by the communists to the Germans, or other “uncomfortable” atrocities. The number of victims is still much debated, and objectively it is difficult to quantify it, but the figure of 7/10 million deaths was done at the 61st assembly of United Nations. The Ukrainian Holodomor story is paradigmatic of how some massacres are treated compared to others. Thus the Armenian genocide, still denied today for political and geopolitical reasons, the atrocities of the Italian partisans, denied for political expediency, the aforementioned Biafra genocide, and especially the Holodomor, the biggest massacre, or among the largest, of the twentieth century, denied so as not to displease first the USSR and then the entire international left, so as not to disturb it in its bid for power throughout the West.
