«We need Hungarian children». Break. Viktor Orbán looks up at the still and silent audience of Buda Castle. The emphasis is on the word «Hungarians». «We don't need migrants, but of Hungarian children". He will reiterate this several times in the annual State of the Nation speech, an invitation to combat the low birth rate of the country besieged by hordes of migrants – «terrorists» – ready to "invade the country" that his wall has so far managed to stop. The ultra-conservative prime minister's narrative seems unchanged since 12 years, since he came into power. He began his speech with the enthusiasm of "an economy that has been growing for seven years" thanks to "government policies and God". But it is the grand finale that draws the ovation from the packed room: «We live in times where fewer and fewer children are being born across Europe. The peoples of the West respond with immigration. But we Hungarians see it in a different light. We don't need numbers, but of Hungarian children".
