Ahmadinejad e il "fascismo iraniano" according to Prof. Abdulmohammadi

by Giacomo Bergamaschi

Pejman Abdolmohammadi is a scholar of Persian origin who teaches History and Institutions of Middle Eastern countries at the University of Genoa. He is the author of a fundamental essay on the Shiite political thought of Imam Khomeini, considered the most objective and scientific in circulation at an international level. In his last essay, co-written with Giampiero Cama, “Contemporary Iran” Mondadori University Editions, writes (pp. 127-129) that Ahmadinejad belongs, in the internal dialectics of the Iranian Islamic Republic, in the current of “populist and nationalist conservatives”; dirigist and statist in economics, during his two governments Ahmadinejad aimed to reduce the high social differences created in Iran, offering support policies towards the most disadvantaged classes, the shares and profits of state-owned factories and industries, for example, were redistributed among the workers and part of the related actions were redistributed to the weaker classes in the form of "social justice actions". (p. 169).
Ahmadinejad creates a fund called "Imam Reza" for young families who marry and have children; it also puts a brake on privatizations by granting control of industries and state companies to cooperatives rather than private investors and its system reformed the system of state subsidies in a much more fair and "socialized" way than the Hartz IV or the Dignity Decree. “Ahmadinejad set up a social policy (really and concretely, ndc) populist, distributing social benefits aimed only at the less well-off classes" (p. 169).
In the public sector the salaries of employees with lower levels of education were increased in order to reduce the gap between managers and qualified personnel and furthermore justice actions were redistributed between approximately 3.600.000 state pensioners. Ahmadinejad also focused on rural centers, visiting peripheral cities numerous times and increasing the budget for the development of infrastructure in rural centers to the detriment of urban ones. A documentary by Czech director Petr Lom (2009) who lived for months alongside the then president ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWlb1S8akGQ) highlights the ultra-populist social policy of the executive of the time, founded on the principle of Socialization. You can see how the former president went to forgotten areas of the country, surprising farmers and poor people, abandoned for years by the central government of Tehran: where no one had ever gone, Ahmadinejad arrives supporting the humble and the poor in their daily efforts. When they see him enter their poor homes, they don't believe their eyes, many of them cry and shout that after that day they will die happy. That was all they needed. But no politician on the planet does that, or rather he has the crazy courage to do it, precisely out of cowardice and fear. This political and social style was clearly taken up by Evita Peròn and the more revolutionary and anti-imperialist Peronism. Ahmadinejad, on the level of global power relations, it does not differentiate the battlefields between the House of Islam and the Territory of war to be conquered by Islam. Far from it. Ahmadinejad does not want to convert, nor does he proselytize, He bases his international political strategy on an Oppressed-Oppressor dualism (mustazafin-mustakbir). Therefore a Muslim can very well serve in the camp of the Oppressors (for example, let's consider the Saudi oligarchies, Qatari, emiratine, Moroccan etc) and a non-Muslim in the camp of the Oppressed. The author considers Ahmadinejad a champion of Iranian nationalism (p. 128) but in my opinion the point is a little more complex. Ahmadinejad and his chain, which is called “The Perfume of good service”, acts in the awareness that the role of a thousand-year-old nation like the Persian one is either global or it is not. The Persian Empire was the first global power in history and the former president is aware that the Persian people still feel this great history vibrate in their daily breathing. Despite the dualism I just talked about, rather than Iranian nationalism, I would therefore speak of Self-awareness of the universal and global mission of religious and cultural Great Persia. Ahmadinejad, con i pasdaran, con i basiji, with his army, he humiliated the Americans in Iraq in several cases, both the English in the Persian Gulf - when for example he captured an English unit that had crossed the border without warning, then returning it only after an official apology from the English government. If today Iran is on a strategic offensive across the board, it owes it precisely to this Ahmadinejadian neo-"nationalism".. Ahmadinejad has recovered an important relationship of loyal collaboration with Moscow, after centuries of conflicts; and a relationship that I dare to define as strategic with China and North Korea. The author claims that Ahmadinejad's current since 2011, together with a party affiliated to the Pasdaran, would have begun to challenge the Supreme Leader Khamenei and the orthodox body of the Pasdaran themselves. From there, Ahmadinejad's political decline would begin. Ora, I don't dare enter into such an analysis, because we only read nonsense about it and it is difficult to form an exact and precise thought. I can only say that today Ahmadinejad continues his political action in every corner of Iran and wherever he goes he is welcomed by hundreds of thousands of his supporters who encourage him to return to the leadership of the country. In February 2017 wrote a letter to President Trump, inviting him not to give in to the temptation of the Zionist and British war party and the warmongering military-industrial complex, also not to follow Obama's murderous and criminal policy, a policy of explicit support for Isis and the worst terrorists on the face of the earth. Ahmadinejad has reported H.'s phrase several times. Clinton in reference to Isis which he clearly said: “but these really want to get out of our hands?”. Ahmadinejad says in several cases that Isis was supported, supported, supported to bring down the Islamic Republic and surround Tehran. So today Kurdish terrorists are used by Israel for the same purpose. In July 2017 gives an exclusive interview to various Western organizations (taken up with incorrect translation in Italy by Corriere della sera) where he declares that American strategic policy is decided by a “very small council” of which he would be part, as well as a Masonic branch of the British royal house, a very important Israeli exponent. Considers Europe and Germany subjects of the USA. a place 129, In the end, Professor Abdolmohammadi believes that the political doctrine and the Ahmadinejadian experience is fascism in Iranian style. Even in this case, I prefer not to go into a specific analysis but only report some facts. When Ahmadinejad came to Rome in 2008, a few days later a serious and credible Iranian newspaper like Ettel'at wrote that there had been an attempt to assassinate the former president with radiation. During the article, some anecdotes about Ahmadinejad's Italian trip were reported; talking to some, officials and politicians of our country not better specified, the Iranian politician said that Mussolini was the only world politician worthy of raising the Sword of Islam to the sky against the oppressive Plutocracies and expressed the thought that before being killed by his enemies the Duce had converted to Islam. Even the Italian press, usually very little generous with such information, reported this news from the Persian newspaper, also adding the interesting fact that the Iranian ambassador was supposed to leave, precisely coinciding with Ahmadinejad's Italian visit, the official residence in Via della Camilluccia for days due to the presence of lethal radiation. Already Sternhell, great scholar of Mussolini and Fascism, he had argued in the 1980s that the Khomeini revolution was a form of fascism, sulla line of Argentine Peronism. Now comes the professor's thesis.
