The European elections have demonstrated once again how changeable the fortunes of parties are in this historical era marked by the decline of ideologies.
We have entered a prolonged experimental phase, in which voters continually reconsider and reorient their preferences on the basis of perceived needs moment by moment and what political forces promise them to satisfy them.
This trend has also been confirmed in many of the other countries that have dealt with the renewal of their delegation to the European Parliament. A new bipolarism has consolidated in France, in truth, it already emerged during the presidential elections won by Emmanuel Macron over Le Pen, while in Great Britain the failure to complete Brexit has not only led to resignation of Prime Minister Theresa May, but the collapse of the traditional parties, dropped to very low percentages. Probably, the formation founded and led by Farage will have no further political prospects, but his statement during the European elections seems to demonstrate the moment of acute pragmatism that the voters of the Old Continent are experiencing.
