Phobia is a phobia

FIFTH COLUMN

Let's start again badly with the Foibe and the Exodus. A few days after Remembrance Day three degrees of oblivion loom over the tragedy of the Istrians, of the Julians and Dalmatians: the deniers, come the Anpi of Rovigo, who consider the foibe a pure national-fascist invention; the deviationists, which make it a small accident due to a great injustice suffered, like the Antifascists of Parma who dedicate the 10 February a “Foibe and Fascism”, suggesting that the fault - just look - is always fascism; finally the forgetters, those who are silent; and if busy they return again to the Shoah, if evasive they fall back on Sanremo. Foibe phobia.

A me, I saw I confess, I don't like talking about sinkholes, and I like to contrast them even less with the media-institutional excess on the Shoah. I don't like these games about pain and I don't like to evoke the story to associate it only with horror. Nor do I like to identify two beautiful and sweet words like memory and memory, one that brings to mind and the other to the heart, with terrible massacres. I don't like applying the Cencelli manual to horrors. And then they are incomparable tragedies. As a humanitarian catastrophe the Shoah looms large. If instead we talk in relation to Italian history, More Italians died in the foibe (dai 12 am 15mila) than in the Nazi concentration camps (circa 6 thousand of Italian Jews on 7.200 deported, based on the Book of Memory – ed. Mursia, edited by Liliana Picciotto, which listed all the names). The comparison, however, is inappropriate and hurts the memory of both, abovetto for the political use that is made of it; what we compare is the prevailing attitude towards one and the other. It is the hemiparesis of memory, ideological abuse.
But let's go back to the foibe. “We will never be able to consider those who have flocked to our big cities as having the right to asylum… They do not really deserve our solidarity nor do they have the right to steal our bread and space which are already scarce”. It's Salvini, it's CasaPound that writes about migrants? No sir, it is the Unity, organ of the PCI, of the 30 November 1946 about the Istrian refugees, Dalmatians, giuliani. Italians doc, who according to the communists were fleeing not from an enemy "but fearful of the breath of freedom that preceded or coincided with the advance of the liberating armies". In documents of the time, the PCI maintained that we should not give up what was defined as "the foibe tactics", i.e. the extermination, for them it was neutrally "tactical". The banality of evil…
The contacts between Get away and the leaders of the extermination operation were continuous. The sinkholes ended in silence ever since they were perpetrated. Because they brought into play the responsibilities of the PCI and of a conspicuous wing of the partisan struggle in the massacres, because they damaged the relationship with Tito's neighboring Yugoslavia, because there was the taboo of the Iron Curtain that divided the two worlds, the pro-American West and the pro-Soviet East. With the exception of TG2, it is still omitted to say that the infobators were communists.
Right, previous nationalism was one of the causes that soured relations on the eastern borders and the Slavic populations. But the extermination of the Italians and their expulsion and expropriation from their lands was a triple war: the war of communism against fascist Italy, then the war of the communist proletarians against the wealthy Istrian-Dalmatian bourgeois, therefore the ethnic cleansing against Italians.
Finally, I would like to know what happened to the rare posthumous trials that were started against the infobaiters, and Piskulic onwards. All stranded, after it was taken away from the magistrate Giuseppe Pititto the burning investigation. But not only that. Thousands of pensions were paid by the Italian state to the information brokers, thanks to the shameful Treaty of Osimo of 1975. Conversely, the families of the infoibati and refugees have waited for justice and often have not received a penny from anyone, Slavs or Italians. Atrocious example i 630 Bersaglieri of the RSI. They had surrendered with the guarantee of their safety but were massacred. And as soldiers of the RSI, the survivors and their families never received any pension. Infobators yes, the infoibates don't.
The foibe were for decades the atrocious memory of a minority of refugees and the polemical memory of a minority of "patriots", mostly linked to the old MSI. Only half a century later did they slowly begin to emerge from the darkness and appear timidly in textbooks and official commemorations., extract messages from the Heads of State and finally see themselves on TV in very sweetened dramas (like The Heart in the Well) in which there was never any mention of communist partisans but only vaguely of Tito and where it was not clear what had really happened; they seemed like private stories, local and family, events divorced from history. Finally the memory was made official with the establishment of the day. It will be broadcast on Raitre on Friday evening the movie Red Istria, a tear in the veil of forgetfulness. Remembrance Day is the last commemoration dedicated to love of country established in Italy. Stay there, orphan lost in the calendar of oblivion. The day I don't remember.
