It is not a negligible matter that religious belonging contributes decisively to strengthening the sense of identity of a people or a community of peoples or even, in certain cases, to reconfigure its identity itself.
As I know, the strategy of the dominant powers, the United States of America today and Great Britain, at the time of the British Empire, they have always leveraged religious affiliations and exploited the religious divide that exists in practically every state, with the aim of prolonging their domination over the rest of the world.
In the current era, since the war in Afghanistan against the USSR, the USA has exploited Islamic radicalism for its geopolitical ends, those of overthrowing unwelcome regimes or occupying strategic countries ( from Afghanistan to Iraq) over which to gain control of the resources. Just think of the use of Al Qaeda which was cultivated by American intelligence agencies, since the 1980s in Afghanistan,as the USA itself subsequently favored the establishment of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), for their own purposes of overthrowing governments and balkanizing the area based on religious and ethnic divisions.
It cannot be denied that confessional wars and religious conflicts have always been a constant in history, in Europe as in other continents, and these were used by power groups for their own ends, representing the longest and most painful conflicts in human history, with an enormous amount of violence and bloodshed that such clashes provoked.
The incitement coming from outside has caused destabilization and a series of military conflicts throughout the Middle East, through which Washington managed to topple a number of “authoritarian” political figures, which were the pillars of regional stability and which were at odds with Washington's interests . Among those leaders brought down by the USA, there were among them characters likeSaddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi and Hosni Mubarak (with Bashar al-Assad they did not succeed) – statesmen loved in their countries but strongly opposed by the West.
In the process of destabilization that followed, Washington has relied on the worst sectarian states dominated by Wahhabi/Salafi ideology, like Saudi Arabia, or the Muslim brothers, (Qatar ) and succeeded in destabilizing countries and destroying the best militaries the Middle East had ever had, civil and industrial infrastructures, leaving those countries , from Iraq, to Libya to Egypt, to Syria, in a constant state of disorder.
These actions provoked religiously based clashes, terrorist threats and mass migration, things that turned out to be tragic for the people of these countries but also with very negative effects for the European Union, which has seen growing waves of migration and the dangers of terrorist infiltration, with serious problems of social destabilization in European nations.
These effects have allowed Washington to involve European NATO countries in a war against chaos and terrorism, phenomena that in reality had been caused by the US power elite itself.
The religious factor reconfirms its aspect as a fundamental parameter of geopolitics when observing the confessional "landscapes" corresponding to areas of crisis and conflict such as Ukraine, l’Iraq, Syria and Palestine.
Ukraine is part of a multi-confessional area, mainly inhabited by populations of Orthodox and Catholic faith; its territory itself is crossed by the limes that separates Catholicism from Orthodoxy, so the western part, of Greek-Catholic confession (“uniate”), look towards Europe, while the eastern one, orthodox, turns towards Russia. It is therefore a typical example of a "divided country",
The last step that Washington wanted to take, in its geopolitical strategy, was to stir up a religious schism within the Orthodox church with an anti-Russian function.

This also happens in those countries where the various religious communities have coexisted peacefully for decades (Syria was a typical example). Just recently, Washington agents attempted to trigger a division between the Orthodox churches in Lebanon and Syria by promoting it, without having any title, of a move of the patriarch's seat from Damascus to Beirut.
Behind the religious conflicts and in particular those that are going through both the Muslim and the Orthodox Christian world, the reality of strong political power exists.
The religious factor is the lever that is used to destabilize large countries and Russia, which has within it a variety of peoples and religions, and this is the main objective of the Anglo-Saxons and the new world order that they pursue.
