Among the many lies that are told daily by the Western media regarding Venezuela there is one that unfortunately was also espoused by our Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi.

During his speech in the Chambers, the minister stated that the opposition in Venezuela, the one belonging to questionable characters such as Leopoldo Lopez, Maria Corina Machado and Henrique Capriles, he had not participated in the last elections because the electoral consultation was not credible, in fact she was wearing makeup.

Now apart from that the whole world, if it is not in bad faith, knows that the defection was instead due to the opposition's inability to find a decent candidate after the failures of the supposed fighters for democracy in the country, it is clear that the truth is different.

Mortifying the validity of the last elections was the usual method to justify the failure of the opposition.

I remember the anti-Chávez campaigns, contradicted by the facts, and I remember the very facts that they had as guarantors, among others, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize, Eduardo Galeano, critical conscience of the continent and even the Foundation of the former President of the United States Jimmy Carter, people whose intellectual honesty was undeniable. And I remember the numerous electoral campaigns, whose democratic validity was monitored by more than 150 international observers. In May 2018, for example, the former prime minister of Spain, Josè Luis Zapatero had criticized the reckless attitude of the European Community which had left Venezuela to its fate of isolation.

That's why it was embarrassing, right from the start, a reality that our minister Moavero, per realpolitik, he has the right to remember as he wants, but not to misrepresent history.

On the other hand, the game of mixing up the cards is more popular than ever, currently, in international politics where he is right (or one would like to pass it off as reason) everything that disturbs the interests of the most powerful because it is difficult to accept or justify the price of democracy, if this is democracy.

What offense has Venezuela ever done to the United States and the Western world to deserve the siege of which it is the victim? It only defended its oil, of which it is the fifth largest exporter in the world.

But this is evidently a very serious sin of our politics, as well as information, they can't forgive if it's true that in recent years three different US governments have all invented them to subvert a situation that they still can't justify.

This ostracism started a long time ago: those in good faith remember the ruthless campaigns and sanctions inflicted on the land of Bolivar immediately after the appearance of Chavez.
