Neocon fundamentalists and Iran
If the United States abandons the nuclear deal with Iran there is a "real risk of war". UN Secretary General Antonio Gutierres raised the alarm in an interview with the BBC.
For Gutierres that agreement was a diplomatic victory and to abandon it "an alternative" is needed.
The issue is not the agreement with Iran
The time has become short and in a week, il 12 maggio, Donald Trump will make his decision public.
This is a decision that has to do with the fate of the world. Why, as Guterres' speech indicates, the object of the dispute is not whether or not Iran respects the agreements established at the time.
Everyone knows he respects them. Even those who say the opposite. As the International Atomic Energy Agency continues to repeat, which is the body responsible for verification (which is not delegated to others, as per illegitimate claims).
Nor the show of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu two days ago, when it revealed alleged violations of the pact by Tehran, changed the terms of the question. It only crystallized the previous positions of the various actors in this dramatic game.
Actors who know well that the real issue is whether or not to launch a war against Iran.
Neocon fundamentalism
The war against Iran belonged, belongs, to the agenda of neocon esoteric fundamentalism, as the final phase of the project aimed at creating a new Middle East and, consequentially, a new Arab world.
An agenda stubbornly pursued despite the geopolitical changes that have occurred in these eighteen years, which made it impossible to achieve except as a global challenge. The apocalypse option indeed.
Why Russia (and not only that) he cannot allow one of his allies to be incinerated and chaos to spread to his borders (as Europe could not afford it, ma…).
On the other hand, the esoteric fundamentalism that crosses and establishes the neocon sphere is nourished by eschatological visions and symbolisms. Of a sick and terminal eschatology.
As a skilled and pragmatic politician, Netanyahu has given himself over to this agenda, but in the specific case he serves a power that is other and greater than himself. How he is other and bigger than Trump, who is also trying to resist the enormous pressure.
Yet things depend on them, because then certain other and disguised powers require real power to achieve their goals. Hence also the temporary importance of what Netanyahu does and says and what Trump will do or say.
In a fiery article published in Haaretz David Rothpof accuses the two politicians of normally using lies. They would be scammers, explains, hinting, specifically, on Netanyahu's show.
But that's not the point. As much as the conclusion of his article, which corresponds to the alarm raised by the UN secretary general: “The fate of millions [of people] It's in the balance.".
Trump will blow up the agreement. At least everyone is convinced of this, as Reuters reports today.
But a source close to the president, the British press agency reports, he confided that Trump's may not be "a complete withdrawal" from the agreement. A compromise, In short.
A viable hypothesis, to which, under the radar, many are working. Or, as reported by the Israeli website Debkafile, citing his sources in Washington, “Trump will decide not to decide”. Which would be fine too, because it would avoid disasters.
The fact that the Israeli Chief of Staff, General Gadi Eiskenkot, stated that the agreement stipulated with Tehran is positive, gives hope that also in Israel, land of miracles, there are many forces opposed to a "catastrophic conflict with Iran", as per the Haaretz headline.
