The truth is that we are afraid of different thinking: who doesn't align, anyone who distances themselves from the dominant current is pointed out as a potential threat.
But to what? Certainly not women's rights, matter with a high rate of exploitation on both sides. The more we talk about it, the less we do it, forgetting that "demography is a destiny": Italians are getting older, those who die are not replaced because they have fewer and fewer children, and many, too many cases a woman finds herself having to choose between the role of parent and her career.
Among the speakers at the World Congress of Families there are some characters with eccentric if not openly discriminatory ideas, yet they too have the sacrosanct right to express themselves. Vice President of the Council Matteo Salvini did well to accept the invitation: secularism is practiced with facts, not in words. As a divorced man, father of two children by different women, the Interior Minister reiterated that the law 194 there is no question of voluntary termination of pregnancy, that the rights gained are not in question, and yet the future poses new challenges for which we cannot be caught unprepared. Instead propaganda takes over, the usual faces appear in the square of the "counterdemonstration"., angry trade unionists and pseudo-feminists, the same ones who don't find time for a sit-in in front of an Arab embassy, they never say a word against that stone shroud that is the burqa, multiculturalism is a "good" to be protected even when it means stoning adulteresses, child brides, genital mutilations. Eh no, the stone of scandal is called the World Congress of Families, an initiative that fits into the internal fracture within the Catholic world between so-called "conservatives" (those of Verona, nostalgic for Ratzinger) and "progressives" (Bergoglio trend). The question is not trivial: family welfare should not be understood as revenge against emancipated women and gays. Policies to support men and women who dream of a family project represent a priority in Western societies otherwise doomed to extinction. The defense of the family understood as mother and father does not involve an infringement of gay rights, nor a step back along the path of secularization. Anyone who fuels such a misunderstanding is making sinister propaganda, like any "loser".. Tied.
