Not even the most obtuse and fanatical neo-fascists has he ever gone so far as to talk about eternal fascism. Instead, the most acute and fanatical of the perennial anti-fascists did it, Umberto Eco. That twenty years ago, faced with the usual beating of returning fascism (which therefore returned twenty, thirty, forty years, fifty years ago, and twenty, thirty, forty, fifty days ago) he wrote a text on Ur-fascism which Sgarbi relaunches once again, hoping to exploit the anti-fascist syndrome, otherwise known as boldrinitis or fianorrhagia.
Since history and culture have nothing to do with it here, but only psychosis, paranoia and their speculation, we had fun applying Eco's speech to communism. Echoing his text, it doesn't make a flaw in the ur-communism version. That is, communism is eternal, it didn't end with the Berlin Wall, with the fall of the USSR or with the mutation of the PCI into the PD, but he is alive and fighting with us.
The proletarian is called a migrant today, the revolution is called hospitality, the classes to be redeemed today are the feminists, and blacks, homosexuals and Roma. And who doesn't think like us, anti-communists, must be banned from civil society, it must be criminalized and eliminated from all forums and together with them all those who play into the hands of the reactionary forces lurking.
Communism is therefore still alive and current, he fights under a false name and false colour: she no longer dresses in red but in rainbow or shocking pink.
As Eco rightly observed in his writing on fascism, trans communism invented its own newspeak, which is universally known as political correctness, where truths are distorted, subjected to censorship, until they are turned upside down: everything that is real and natural appears worthy of cancellation and overthrow, faithful to the essence of communism which is the abolition of reality, or as Marx and Engels wrote, of the “present state of affairs”.
To defend themselves from ur-communism it is instead necessary to preserve historical memory, as Eco reminds us about fascism, of what was communism which is the regime that claimed the most victims among the most peoples, across multiple continents and over a very long historical period.
Communism in power also has a unique record: it killed more communists than any other regime. Unlike all the other dictatorships of the twentieth century, including fascism and nazism, communism in power exterminated its own people and did so in peacetime, without the need to invent wars and races.
Therefore Roosevelt's motto is correct, “Don't forget!” and like Eco-fascism, Ur-communism must finally be remembered with a poem by an ex-communist, Octavio Paz: “The good, we wanted good/righting the world./We did not lack steadfastness:/we lacked humility./What we wanted we didn't want with innocence./Precepts and concepts,/pride of theologians:/beat the cross,/found with blood,/build the house with the bricks of crime,/decree obligatory communion./Some became secretaries of the secretaries/of the General Secretary of Hell./Anger has become philosophy, /his slime has covered the planet./Reason has descended to earth/has taken the shape of the gallows/and millions worship it”.
Dedicated to the memory of Eco, to the squalid sellers of its most unfortunate booklets and its still active media amplifiers. Communism will not pass, Eco, yes.
