SOLBAKKEN – COPENHAGEN TEACHER
IT WAS “CLINICALLY DEAD” – THEN THE MIRACLE
(Excerpt from Goal.com 23 August 2018)
“It was the 13 March 2001 e Solbakken, who played as a midfielder in Copenhagen and had 33 years, he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch during training with the Danish team. The alarm immediately went off: the club doctor. Frank Odgaard, immediately performed cardiac massage, After 8 minutes the ambulance arrived.
Hopes that Solbakken could make it were virtually nil, so much so that Odgaard himself declared Solbakken, amidst general dismay, “clinically dead”. His heart had stopped beating, but here it is on the way from the camp to the hospital, after others 7 minutes, the miracle happened: the pulse resumed, Solbakken came back to life.
Arrived at the hospital, he was then found to have a heart defect and a pacemaker was implanted. Copenhagen never forgot him and in 2006 he wanted him to lead the team (…)”

This episode demonstrates that the patient in cardiac arrest must be treated and must never give up even if the situation is desperate, which is generally guaranteed for important people.
Much less for the people, indeed under the pressure of procuring organs for transplantation (that the law restricts from individuals in so-called "brain death" with a beating heart) it also surpasses in Italy, against the law, a utilitarian preparatory treatment for explantation extended to patients in cardiac arrest based on greatly reduced times (Between 1/5 minutes).
A practice that Italy is imitating from other countries but placed under criticism by the NBC (National Bioethics Committee) which emphasizes that "the patient can still 'be alive', as the very short period of time elapsing from cardiac arrest is not sufficient to declare the irreversible loss of brain function". If this practice were to take hold it would result in the “dying donor” rule..
Even in Italy, the Transplant Power Centers have developed an authoritarian protocol to be illegally applied to people in cardiac arrest deemed "prematurely" hopeless..
They are called “heart-stopped donors” and internationally NHBD (Non Heart Beating Donor) or 'non-beating heart donors’ but brain alive. They are patients who, based on a hasty judgment of a poor prognosis, are regarded as a bank of organs and tissues. What is not said is that the immediate, invasive and harmful preparation for explantation with extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) which oxygenates the organs (while the blood flow to the brain is hindered), precedes the assessment of cardiac death which by law is declared later 20 minutes of electrocardiographic findings. Upon expiry of 20 min. the final act of removal of organs and tissues can be performed. Procurement is easier on those hospitalized in intensive care but other more common situations can involve citizens. So be alert!
