The news of thestabbing of a man at the Termini station in Rome by a Moroccan because he was wearing a crucifix around his neck, fits into a broader framework of attacks carried out globally against Christians and Catholics which we have witnessed in all the drama with the attacks in Sri Lanka at Easter which caused the death of approximately 300 faithful. Although attempts have been made to misclassify what happened in Rome as a clash between homeless people, in reality the episode is symptomatic of an increasingly worrying climate for those who profess Christianity not only in countries where Christians represent a minority but also in the West.
