The great loser is the pro-European myth

Of Gianpasquale Santomassimo
The great loser is the pro-European myth
To all those who carry out very complicated and political analyses, who believe that a certain party has lost boatloads of votes because of a wrong little word on TV, for an incorrect goal in the program, for that indigestible candidate etc., a simple truth must be remembered: that the bulk of the electorate orients themselves and thinks in a much simpler way. If the "left" has become indigestible and unvotable in the eyes of voters, this will have concentric repercussions, from Renzi to Grasso and even further to the left.
The distinctions that political enthusiasts make, splitting hairs in four, they have no value and are not intelligible to the common voter. It is a question of understanding why there has been such a broad and probably definitive rejection of what has been considered "left" in recent decades. An unsurprising phenomenon, and that comes from quite far away, by a reversal of roles and representation of classes and lifestyles, plastically depicted by all the vote analyzes of recent years, which pitted the satisfied wealthy people of the city centers against the people of the suburbs who expressed a need for rebellion and protection at the same time.
It's not as if there was a lack of offers of possible claims, also very varied, even if of poor quality: at this point the question from the left was missing, let's say. The whole left (moderate, radical, antagonist) it was perceived and judged by the electorate as an integral part of a system that needed to be changed.
We are also witnessing in Italy the collapse of the liberal left which had long been hegemonic with its vision of the world. The so-called "radical left" itself had been nothing other than the extreme wing of this widespread ideology, very sensitive to the issues of civil rights and "humanitarian" battles, effectively inert in the field of social rights.
And also complicit in the construction of the pro-European myth, which is the great defeat of this consultation in the background. The Democratic Party is an integral part of the pro-European establishment, his left-wing critics are very often askari of the "more Europe"..
We are not only faced with euros and rules, but also a very powerful and pervasive overall ideology, a vast political and cultural front, convinced that "more Europe" is the solution to the problems that Europe itself has posed with its crazy implementation. It would involve undertaking a long-term effort to demystify - as was once said - the results of a hegemony built with many decades of massive use of cultural resources, media, economical, but which rests on very fragile historical and theoretical foundations, witnessed by that embarrassing document that went down in history as the "Ventotene manifesto".
The problem with left-wing Europeanism is that it is no longer just a replacement ideology for the twentieth-century ones that collapsed in 1989 and it is no longer just a "civil religion" imposed on subjects by the establishment. But now it is a real religion, with its dogmas, his acts of blind and absolute faith, the creed because it is absurd (I think because it's absurd) and also a massive dose of human sacrifice. At least start asking the problem, discuss it openly and secularly on the left, it will certainly be a positive thing (as well as necessary).
Without rethinking everything it will be impossible to start again. I don't have any great illusions, the Republic will continue to rave about populism and "sovereignism", the left will continue to treat the popular masses who express discomfort with their living conditions as fascists and racists, will continue to discuss "security obsessions" and imagine that "multiculturalism" is a gala lunch free of lacerations and dramas. The defense of the national interest will be left to the right, and even the exercise of the constitutional sovereignty for which we had voted 4 December of 2016.
«We are not interested in national sovereignty, we are internationalists" declares the leader of an electoral list that received 1.1%. One wonders since when this position, who even ignores the meaning of the words, and which would be impossible to explain to the Cubans, to the Vietnamese, but also to the Kurds and any other people, has become commonplace on the Italian left.
Instead of evoking the People we should at least start talking to them. When we decide to do it it will never be too late.

Il de profundis centrista e "moderato"

Il de profundis centrista e "moderato"

Among the victims of the landslide of the Italian political framework , caused by Sunday's vote, there is also the so-called moderate centre. And it's no small detail. It's not just the neocentrist idea that has come down, with one eye on the left, of Casini and Lorenzin, and above all the old logic of centrism, intended as a place of mediation and political compromise. This is confirmed by the insignificant percentages of the last nostalgics of the Crusader shield.

Even the “legendary” Chamber of Pergine-Valsugana collapsed, what belonged to Alcide De Gasperi and entire Christian Democratic generations and then to Margherita, of the Ulivo and of the Catholic-inspired Democratic Party. To win, in that segment of Trentino, he was the centre-right candidate, a Northern League member, a sign of the political gap caused here too by the latest elections. A political gap that evidently does not call into question the strong Christian identity of the area, but gives it new meanings, in fact it makes it more direct, most popular, closer to the concrete interests of citizens. And therefore it distances it from the compromising mentality typical of the old democratism, available to easy ethical problems (those on the value of life, of the family, of traditional identity), forcing it to "radicalize" on the level of principles. Psychoanalysis of voting

Of Marcello Veneziani
Psychoanalysis of voting
Source: Marcello Veneziani
One week before the vote the average Italian showed up in the studio, responsible and victim of the insoluble electoral verdict, and he lay down on the bed asking for a medical report on the psychological reasons that pushed him to vote like this, thanks to the electoral law.
It was immediately revealed to him a first brain affection: the Italian voter votes against, the driving force that pushes him to vote is more opposition than support.
Between moderates and conservatives the driving force that prevails is fear – of the communists, of criminals, of immigrants, of revolutions. Between the progressives and the radicals the prevailing driving force is hatred – towards enemies, by definition fascists, racists, sexists, homophobic, reactionaries, corrupt – and hatred towards reality, its limitations, its borders. But the thing they have in common is the vote against.
Even the Grillino vote is a vote against, but not in the name of ad hoc fear and hatred; but general disgust, of contempt, a vote against every power. Voting for him is contraction of vomiting. So I vomited.
The vote against It has a matrix in the Christian nature of Italian: the vote is an exorcism under the banner of "Vade retro". Like sex, the vote should not be expressed for pleasure, but only to procreate a government; the rest is the domain of Satan. Read More

Bannon: "Salvini e Di Maio facciano un governo insieme"

THE POINT OF VIEW OF TRUMP'S FORMER IDEOLOGIST
Steve Bannon, the ideologue of the American ultra-right who dragged Trump to victory, he says he dreams of an Italian government formed by the alliance between the Movement 5 Stars and League
Of Raffaello Binelli
L'ex guru on Trump, the one who gave life to the “alternative right” americana, derogatorily branded by opponents as “populist”, focuses on Italian politics.
He does it with an interview with the director of The Press, Maurizio Molinari. “Salvini and Di Maio? My dream is to see them govern together”, dice Steve Bannon without hesitation. “Sono espressioni diverse dello stesso fenomeno e superano, together with other smaller formations, half of the voters”. Francesco, Marcello Veneziani accuses: "Più figlio della globalizzazione che della Chiesa"

Image results for Bergoglio hereticE’ Seplenist, but some of his observations make us think. Let us therefore ignore the attribution of Catholic terms to the conciliars (N.d.r.)
http://www.liberoquotidiano.it/news/sfoglio/13317619/papa-francesco-marcello-veneziani-figlio-globalizzazione-piu-che-della-chiesa.html
On the occasion of the first 5 years of pontificate of Pope Francis, The weather produces a special issue with a front page almost entirely dedicated to Bergoglio. Many comments on the Pontiff and his work, including that of Marcello Veneziani, “A vicar for three crises”. The editorialist clearly speaks of “radical turning point“, but it does so in critical terms. And he writes: “He is a Pope perceived as a son of his time rather than of the Church, son of globalization rather than tradition". And again: “A Pope open to the most distant, who loves the most remote neighbor, open to Muslims before Christians, to Protestants before Catholics, to the poor more than to the faithful, to individuals - even gays - more than to families".
Heavy words, In short, and Veneziani notes how “all this has been ennobled as a return to early Christianity“. In his analysis, the editorialist recalls how "once the Pope did not want to criticize some behaviors until yesterday considered deplorable by the Church, taking refuge behind Christian humility: Who am I to judge. One would have to answer him: you are a Pope, that is, a Holy Father, and you have not only the right but the duty to judge, to orient, to exhort and condemn. Otherwise – warns Veneziani – you are failing in your pastoral role, to your evangelical mission". Read More

Luigi Bisignani at IL TEMPO: In the book Veritas

E’ Seplenist, but his observations are sobering.
Of Luigi Bisignani

The Vatican turmoil in black and white (and the cardinals' desire for rebellion)

Dear director, once again it is a book that shakes the unadorned rooms of Santa Marta, where Pope Bergoglio has been staying for five years. It is a profound reflection on the Pontificate, not a scandalous book, which comes out on the fifth anniversary of the election of Pope Bergoglio and seems to gather the discontent of an increasingly disoriented curia and episcopate. To write it,not a reporter looking for scandals but a thoroughbred journalist, Mauro Mazza, for years at the top of Rai publications. “Bergoglio and prejudice” (Publisher Pages,210 pages) it was written on the original basis of articles and occasional notes, subsequently assembled or, more often, expanded and rewritten. A book written by a courageous Catholic that leaves the reader full of questions. In his merciless overview he touches on all the most controversial points of this five-year period, from divorced people to homosexuals, from openings in foreign policy, especially towards the Orthodox of Moscow, up to the anomalies of some centers of power,as Communion and Liberation. With the curiosity of a reporter and the vision of a historian, Mazza doesn't believe they can arrive, but it doesn't exclude either, possible resignation of the Pope. "It was profoundly different", writes Mazza,«the situation experienced with Benedict XVI. It was a sensational and unexpected resignation. Yet his renunciation, even with so few precedents in the two thousand year history of the Church, was considered realistic". Read More

Breve analisi confutante l'eretica dottrina geovista

A topic of fundamental importance for the Jewists is the name of God. Often, during the preaching of the JWs, is often heard highlighted as Jehovah (Italianization of Yahweh) is the authentic name of God, but Yahweh is not the name of God, so neither is Jehovah, for the true name of God is a tetragrammaton, …

Renzi scraps himself. The end of the pro-Brussels parties, between populism and protest votes…

Renzi scraps himself. The end of the pro-Brussels parties, between populism and protest votes…

Renzi: the scrapper has scrapped himself
The news arrived at 18.15 yesterday afternoon: Matteo Renzi he resigned as secretary of the PD (maintaining the position of senator).
The curtain has fallen on the elections, the verdict was clear (and it was predictable). The centre-right is the first coalition in the country with the League surpassing Forza Italia, placing itself as the third force in the country. The Movement 5 Stars it is, Instead, the first party in the country, after having broken through especially in the South. The PD instead collapsed under the 20% and his critics led to the inevitable decision that many expected him to take in the aftermath of the referendum of 4 December.
I already wrote it in 2014 in the unauthorized biography of the former prime minister, The B side. by Matteo Renzi: like in any game of chance, the career of the former mayor of Florence and then Prime Minister was burn the stages and burn yourself in turn.

The gambler who was in a hurry

He predicted it «The Economist» in a dated article 22 March 2014, describing it as a «Gambler in a rush», a gambler which is in a hurry. Already then the press had embraced satire by portraying the prime minister as a teleseller, a magician, an illusionist. One who shoots burst of promises, one after the other without being able to realize them. Read More

A real government

Of Giovanni Petrosillo
A real government
Source: Giovanni Petrosillo

The elections just concluded have decreed the victory of the 5 Stars in the south and the League in the North. F.I. is not doing well in the centre-right coalition., while Meloni's party strengthens. The Democratic Party has collapsed everywhere, even in the strongholds of yesteryear. Leu has just exceeded the barrier threshold. Ali estreme, Casapound and Power to the people, they practically do not exist as does the bogeyman of the fascism/anti-fascism opposition, with which the media tried to revive atavistic as well as imaginary diatribes (with the aim of channeling voters towards establishment groups).
Neither the Five Star Movement nor the centre-right have the majority to create a stable executive. The games are open for alliances that allow one or the other to settle in Palazzo Chigi. Salvini and his associates lack around fifty deputies and thirty senators to reach their goal. Many more at grillini. The latter, however, are the most voted movement in Italy and seem to have a better chance of making it by orienting themselves to the left. Renzi wants to prevent this from happening because he intends to create a personal party by splitting the Democratic Party. But if the latter enters the government no one would follow him anymore so he staged the first resignations-non-resignations in history.
In any case, both Salvini and Di Maio will have to come to terms with someone watering down their electoral promises, if not also their political vision which already wasn't that great.
The real crux of the matter is this: the world has the knife between its teeth again, dragged by the multipolar wave. Global power relations are changing. Russia creates unbeatable missiles. China increases its arsenals. Americans have never stopped spending on weapons and improving them. Other regional powers behave menacingly and flex their muscles where they can or where they feel they are entitled to. Italy is paying the price, both inside and outside the borders, weakening on all fronts. A threat from the markets is enough to change internal policy or a Turkish ship to reduce foreign policy.
In the face of these great issues that Grillini and Northern League supporters are saying? Di Maio flew to Washington and settled with some trilateral while Salvini went no further than criticizing the euro, to the EU and Germany, now they have also become more “constructive”. The rest of the programs are rubbish on citizen's income, Flat tax and other economic measures etc. ecc. which can soothe but not solve problems that are especially of a non-economic nature.
As Alberto Negri wrote instead: “Russia, Erdogan, the war in syria, Cipro, Israel, Egypt, Libya and Eni: a minute to understand the gas strategy. This is essentially how things are. If Russian gas goes to Erdogan, Russia will essentially bypass Ukraine and transfer a share of European dependence from Moscow to Ankara. The Tap project (gas dell’Azerbiajan all’Italia) it goes ahead anyway because it interests Turkey even if it competes with Moscow. But gas from Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean disrupts Turkey's plans to become a decisive gas hub for Europe. If we then add gas from Israel and Egypt to this, Turkey's strategic position weakens. Worse still if Iranian gas one day passes from Iran to Iraq to terminals in Syria: This is one of the reasons for the anti-Iranian proxy war against Assad by Türkiye and the Gulf monarchies. And finally, let's also include Algeria and Libya, already connected by two gas pipelines with Italy: and now we understand well why they got rid of Gaddafi. Italy, with Eni, it enters into all or almost all of the projects mentioned and this evidently annoys various regional and non-regional players. None of these strategic topics for Italy entered the electoral campaign at all: they are not difficult to understand I have summarized them here in 18 lines, or a minute of reading".
And it's not just about energy strategy but, above all, of geopolitical relocation of Italy and Europe in a context undergoing profound transformation. On this our so-called populists have said nothing and have nothing to say. There is no hope. These gentlemen did not understand the true spirit of the times, for this reason they are already losers and will not be able to do better (but not even worse, credo) of those who preceded them. However, being better than those who preceded them will not be enough to revive the country. Not doing bad or doing well is no longer enough, something great and innovative needs to be done here, reviewing the past to build the future, looking around where we are surrounded by wolves.

Sull'esito della tornata elettorale (by Marco Tarchi)

Of Marco Tarchi
On the outcome of the electoral round
Source: Vanity Fair

As he comments on the Movement's exploits 5 position (and of the League)?

Anything but unexpected. The symptoms of the growing disaffection of a good part of the electorate towardsestablishmenthad been evident for some time. It's a bit surprising that both managed to recover a fair share (Together, about the 10%) of those who until a month and a half ago declared they wanted to abstain.

He would technically define the M5S as a populist party?

No. I have always distinguished Grillo's political speech - which is fully populist - and the action of the M5S, which has tended to distance itself from it, especially after the death of Gianroberto Casaleggio. Today there are some traits of the populist mentality in the movement, but several others are missing.

Grillo said that the M5S managed to positively channel the repressed anger of Italians elsewhere (see France, Hungary and others) it was picked up by far-right movements. He agrees?

Yes and no, because I don't agree with the label of "extreme right" attributed to the Front National, to Orban or to the Austrian Fpö. They are populist parties. That said, Yes, the M5S also largely intercepted pushes that could have gone in that direction (Meaning what, from us, to the League).

Why has the M5S still achieved so much despite some stumbles in recent months? Voting for him is an act of faith? Read More
